PLEASE TAKE NOTICE CHANGE OF ADDRESS;
From 2900 East Cesar E. Chavez Avenue., Los Angeles, CA 90033 is now our drop off point for the event only Ray’s Auto Paint Supplies 3217 East Cesar E. Chavez Ave. Los Angeles, CA 90063. For direct left messages call (323) 263-6937 or direct mailing address is Operation Y.E.S. Inc. P.O. Box 33165 Los Angeles, CA 90033.
This change took place after the E-Board of Operation Y.E.S. meeting Sunday, August 5, 2007 at El Rinconcito Restaurant at Evergreen and First Street.
Since Operation Y.E.S. had no funding to continue paying rent for our building (center) and closed its doors is not at all a sign that our services has come to an end in helping youth and their families facing crises to our immediate residents living between Soto Street to Indiana Street then between First Street to Marengo Street and parts of Rosemead, East L.A.,Huntington Park and other parts of the County of Los Angeles. We are at the mercy of other nonprofit organizations of them lending us office desk space at time of need whenever we have families calling us up at our phone (323) 263-6937 by leaving a message and we get back with the calls as soon as possible!
Operation Y.E.S. is a rare and unique community based organization which is grassroots because when the chips are down we do not stop serving children and their family members just because we do not have a center to operate from not like other nonprofit organizations that close their doors when there are no more funds then suddenly they no longer exist etc! We’ve survived through thick and thin with or without funds our goals are to serve even if it is through volunteer services no stopping us because we are blessed with special gifts from someone greater than us here on earth! First we serve God then the people in need regardless the challenges with or without funding. Grassroots means being part of the peoples side nothing to do with Politics etc! 501 (C) (3) has that special ruling set by our government of IRS, Secretary of State and Franchise Tax Board as long as the organization submits their yearly reports and hold E-Board meeting etc makes an organization legal to keep their status active! WE say this because negative rumors are going around by negative people and misinformed people that have no idea what it takes to keep an organization active through rough times!
Operation Y.E.S. has been blessed as of August 1, 2007 by a Faith Based Organization to be funded by or before December 2007 to reopen our doors at various locations to aid the kids facing problems and their family members including to challenge the existing gang problems etc. These funds are private nothing to do with public funding and it will be for approximately 10 years of funding leading to a permanent setting by having to open up a self efficient source to generate revenues to keep our doors open. Operation Y.E.S. funds have come and gone over the 32 plus years of existence a track record that is hard to match when providing services without funding and without paid personnel! Operation Y.E.S. is still ongoing but with limited services!
The BOYLE HEIGHTS SEVENTH ANNUAL RESOURCE FAIR
At present Operation Y.E.S. is being held hostage by our City Councilman Jose Huizar being no motion has been present to the City Council as of yet!
I Juan Jimenez is at fault for not paying attention to the Motion back in 2006 because the homeowners and residents back in 2005; we promised our community not to block again their driveways so that they would have the liberty of coming in and out of their own driveways as they please! The in and out from their driveways was a hazardous problem according to the Fire Marshall which I understood his concern and our concern about safety to those attending to Operation Y.E.S. event!
Our petition was signed by all the homeowners and renters including some business owners with the exception of business owner of El Mercado who was against the event one man! The community and E-Board members of Operation Y.E.S. went before this man to plea for his support and no matter what was said to him he was against the wishes of the people that signed the petition and being that we could not have him come to terms and then our City Councilman Jose Huizar made the motion against the signed petitions drawn up by our organization and homeowners and renters etc.
If I would have paid attention to the Motion back in 2006, I would have the homeowners and renters against Operation Y.E.S. and the organization can not upset their supporters but one must take into account the safety of the attendees coming to the event! I made a choice to setup the event at the opposite side of the motion and yet the Fire Marshall was very pleased and happy including the homeowners and renters etc! However I was unaware that I would cause this harm to the event and that this nonprofit organization would be held hostage to retain a motion of wavier fees but regardless the permit fees there is a man who came to us after hearing this sad story by another City Councilmember who is willing to pay the permit fees but to this date no motion has been given to us as of yet not even the fee cost!
An Attorney who gave us a free and volunteer services informed us after reading the Street Closure Provisions and Application Procedures of Bureau of Street Services Department of Public Works City of Los Angeles manual book. A Motion is required by City Councilman Jose Huizar and a wavier of fees is in place because the City of Los Angeles Charter law has provisions for 501 (C) (3) nonprofit organizations that are sponsoring an event on public or private properties etc!
Furthermore the City Councilman can override any City Department recommendations or suggestions if he or she desires too!
The Attorney feels this is a Political strategy move because I (Juan Jimenez) was a Candidate in this last race for CD14 is probably why the City Councilman is not being reasonable. Too this point nobody has put it anything into a written form the real reason why not allow this event to take place while all the other departments approved the event like the Insurance provided is alright and Fire Marshall see good plan layout, D.O.T. is waiting for a Motion etc! L.A.P.D. Senior Lead Officers including the L.A.P.D Bicycle Patrol never had a complaint against our past events in fact our events have been very peaceful thanks to God not one incident etc!
What is strange is that the City Council Office submitted us an email stating that L.A.P.D. send us a letter declining the event when in fact we never had a complaint in the pass etc!
We have no idea if the event will take place to this date unless our City Councilman Jose Huizar has a change of heart. I write this to you all because too many calls are coming into our lines about the event and why we are not informing you all like last year! I ask you to call Councilman Jose Huizar of CD14 (213) 485-3335 or email him at; councilmember.huizar@lacity.org asking him to soften his heart and provide a motion for this nonprofit organization. I am aware that there are folks out there that dislike nonprofit organizations for some reason or another but not all nonprofit organizations are the same! Nonprofit organizations played a great part in forming our Nation including providing human services etc! Be kind and considerate! The children and parents are looking forward for this traditional event in Boyle Heights in August 17, 18 and 19, 2007 but our streets need to be closed as of 8/16/07 through 8/20/07.
Peace be with you and God bless you all.
Sign Juan Jimenez
PS;
I offered my services after the election but it is Jose Huizar that has closed his doors on me and this nonprofit organization. I to pray to God that he sees to it that this is not for me, but a benefit for the community! I hope we can work together to improve and enhance the needs of our target area. On 8/08/07 we will be going before the City Council at 9:30 AM. At City Hall Chamber Council on the 3rd floor where the Council conducts regular business to plea for a Motion on this up coming event! All those who desire to help out are welcome but one must go in peace and caring not to argue or fight it al can be said in good words!
Where do you consider home? Is it the place you grew up; the place you're currently living? Why is it home?
